General & Legal Questions

What is a non-attorney document preparation service?

A non-attorney document preparation service assists individuals who choose to represent themselves in administrative or legal matters. We help collect required details, complete standard state and federal forms accurately, format documents according to agency guidelines, and organize complete filing packages.

Are you attorneys or a law firm?

No. Document Way is a non-attorney document preparation service. We are not attorneys, a law firm, or a substitute for legal representation. We cannot give legal advice, provide legal opinions, tell you your legal rights, or represent you in court or before government agencies. If you have complex legal disputes or need legal advice, we recommend consulting a licensed attorney.

Do I need to make an appointment, or can I walk in?

Walk-ins are welcome for Notary Public and Document Intake services at our office located at 120 West Central Ave in downtown Winter Haven. For comprehensive services like Immigration Forms, Divorce Paperwork, or Tax Preparation, we recommend calling ahead or scheduling an appointment so we can dedicate full attention to your paperwork.

Immigration Document Preparation

What immigration forms can you help me prepare?

We assist with routine USCIS paperwork, including:

  • Family-based petitions (Form I-130)
  • Adjustment of Status / Green Cards (Form I-485)
  • Green Card Renewals or Replacements (Form I-90)
  • Employment Authorization / Work Permits (Form I-765)
  • Citizenship and Naturalization (Form N-400)
  • Affidavits of Support (Form I-864)

How long does it take to prepare my immigration package?

Once we receive all necessary supporting documents and information from you, most immigration form packages are prepared and ready for your final review within 3 to 5 business days.

Uncontested Divorce & Paternity Services

What is an uncontested divorce?

An uncontested divorce occurs when both spouses agree on all key terms of the divorce, including property division, debt allocation, parental responsibilities, time-sharing (custody), and child support. Because there are no legal disputes to litigate, hiring expensive legal counsel is often unnecessary for completing the court forms.

Do you file the divorce paperwork with the court for me?

We prepare a complete, court-compliant document package formatted for the 10th Judicial Circuit Court in Polk County. Once you review and sign the documents in front of our notary, we provide clear, step-by-step instructions on how and where to file them with the county clerk.

Certified Document Translations

What is a certified translation?

A certified translation includes the translated document alongside a signed Certificate of Accuracy, stating that the translation is complete and accurate to the best of the translator’s knowledge. Official agencies—such as USCIS, courts, state departments, and universities—require certified translations for foreign-language documents.

How quickly can I get my documents translated?

Standard translations (such as birth certificates, marriage certificates, or diplomas) are typically completed within 24 to 48 hours. Express/same-day processing is also available for urgent requests.

Income Tax Preparation

What documents do I need to bring for tax preparation?

To prepare your tax return accurately, please bring:

  • Government-issued photo ID and Social Security Cards (or ITINs) for you, your spouse, and dependents.
  • Income statements (W-2s, 1099s, self-employment logs).
  • Supporting records for deductions (bank statements, childcare expenses, property tax receipts).
  • A copy of your prior year’s tax return (if available).

Notary Public Services

What do I need to bring to get a document notarized?

  1. Unsigned Document: Do not sign or date the document prior to your visit; you must sign in the physical presence of the Notary.
  2. Valid Photo Identification: Bring an unexpired state driver’s license, state ID card, or passport.
  3. Required Signers: All individuals required to sign the document must be present with valid identification.
